One hoax or scam that I've personally seen was when I tried using a "free" template to create a resume and turned out I had to pay to even download it and then could continue being charged as a subscriber. The purpose of this scam or hoax was to create more revenue as a company. By them not providing visible information about paying for the template or the subscription they would be able to grow a profit off of people's ignorance. Also, making the person go through the steps to use the template and then revealing the cost also makes people for susceptible to this because they spent time going through the steps to complete it. I honestly could've just known that nothing is truly "free" but also probably looking at small print and other information regarding the website. IN the future I will probably look closer at the fine print but also looking through multiple sites rather then clicking the first one I see.

I completely agree with you! It especially annoys me when I’m using a site that says “free” and then after a couple minutes, it makes you sign up and/or pay to keep using it. Pretty annoying.

I completely agree, those “free” resume builders are really misleading. They count on people investing time before revealing the cost, which makes it easier for them to profit.
